London Still Rocks!

Tonight, back with   Up in the Cheap Seats   at  The Day I Accidentally Went to War , a one-man show at  Soho Theatre  - Lordy, it's nearly a year and a half since I was  last  there! Nice late start anyway, which gave me time to get lots of work in. I was perfectly in time to miss the bus - which, after a very hard day, was the last thing I needed. In fact, I could still see its rear end, stuck in traffic. And then it occurred to me.. I wonder how stuck it is.. because I know where the next stop is.. sod it, off I went. Walked past the bus, down the street and around the corner - traffic did move briefly, but then the lights changed again and they were at a standstill again. I didn't even break into a trot - made the stop, and had time to sit down for a minute before the bus materialised, round the corner. Hah. And happily, that was the worst of the traffic.. Tonight, back with  Up in the Cheap Seats  (UITCS) for  Boys on the Verge of Tears , at  Soho Theatre . Again, ages since I was  last there ! Left a bit early, so I could eat in the Nellie Dean beforehand - they don't take reservations, except for large groups. The bus was working again, thank goodness.. and I arrived, roughly when I'd said I would, having taken a shortcut through Soho Square . Man, I miss living in this part of town.. The pub was busy, as ever - I was meeting another member of the group there, but I got there first, and made the executive decision to take the table by the door, which seemed the least cramped of what was available. The menu is now available on a board over the bar.. I had the steak and ale pie again, he had the chicken and mushroom one, when he arrived. A glass of wine each - I don't think he'd eaten here before, and he seemed impressed with both quality and price! Agreed.. and I'd forgotten how tasty the steak and ale pie is....

Tonight, another new group -  London Circus Cabaret and Burlesque Meetup  was headed to  Fool's Moon , a drag circus act at  Soho Theatre . Meeting beforehand at the  Nellie Dean  - aw man, it's ages since I was at these places! Several signed up in the end.. I could walk to this one! (For now - I'll surely miss living in this area.) I ate enroute in Pret , to save time - didn't feel like anything major anyway. Now, this was a proper Meetup . The organiser was good enough to post a current photo, so there was no real problem in locating him. In the end, only a few of us met in the pub - what the hey, we had a very entertaining time. Turns out the organiser kind of has a background in circus - now, I can't think of better credentials for hosting such a group! And we had a nice chat before moving across to the theatre - where we got drinks and stood outside. Hell, it was nicer, in the balmy evening weather! And there, we met a fourth member.
