London Still Rocks!

Tonight, the last scheduled from the Crick Crack Club 's Story Pick + Mix in Next Door at Theatre Deli - this time, it was We Are Fox , with Alys Torrance and Lucy Lill   - collectively known as Storyjam . And it's a good job that they recently invited me to buy a ticket - I'd completely forgotten to do so! Got sorted in the end. I left in time to eat at Nando's Lime Street - and wow, it was a breezy day. I'd expected the bus to be busier, after yesterday - but of course, this was the day between Tube strikes ! Arrived in nice time, got seated, got fed - and it was richer than I remembered. It has been three weeks since I was in a Nando's, of course.. the last time I was at this venue, in fact! Arrived in decent time, selected some pick n mix - there weren't many seats left, but I got one up the front. Ah, this was marvellous - whatever I was expecting, it wasn't this. The fox of the title was a man by day, cursed to roam the streets of London...

Tonight , more storytelling with the Crick Crack Club (CCC) - this was a Story Pick+Mix, with Laura Sampson and Minnie Wilkinson delivering Beowulf , at Next Door at Theatre Deli - an unusually early start, so we could have an interval in what is a long piece. Well, I did my required hours in the office and, work completed, headed out - perfectly in time for the bus ! And as that was the terminus , no problems getting a seat. And just as well I dressed for rain today - it poured on me as I walked the last stretch to Nando's . Where I was most excellently fed - and had time for their delicious choc-a-lot cake. In fact, as I was preparing to leave, the girl at the next table asked me all about it - and I raved about it! Hope she had it, she certainly seemed interested.. A short walk to the venue, where Laura Sampson was pacing up and down outside, having a fag. I got there about 15 minutes early - and they took some care with tonight's sweet display, depicting a treasure...

Tonight, more storytelling with the  Crick Crack Club  - this was  Island of Love , another Story Pick + Mix, at  Next Door at Theatre Deli  again. Again, it was related to  Greek myth  - this was the story of  Cyprus , birthplace of  Aphrodite , from a Cypriot storyteller. I tell you this though, I determined not to eat in  La Spezia  again after the  last time , it just isn't worth it! Headed off from the office in time to eat, all right.. in the nearest Nando's . Got the bus without issue, and then Google Maps threw a fit, and actually showed me as walking in the wrong direction.. I've often had them put me in slightly the wrong location, but never before actually show me heading in the wrong direction! Took a few minutes for it to right itself. And then I got to Nando's, and couldn't open the door.. not seeing any activity inside, I moved away to check my phone - and when I looked again, the door was open. (Ghosts?) Anywa...

Tonight, back with storytelling - and the  Crick Crack Club  (or more likely, Laura Sampson ) has a new idea, the Story Pick + Mix, organised by what she seems to be calling The House of Rumour - rough cuts, experimental work. This one,  The Bodies on the Beach , is the story of the legendary Irish hero,  Fionn MacCumhaill , and is said to combine elements of 15th-century manuscripts, archaeology, and folklore. And these shows are happening at Theatre Deli , right in the  City . Booked to eat in  La Spezia  restaurant next door beforehand - not a long journey, happily. In fact, close enough to walk there. Boy, it was cold though - and foggy, most of the tops of the taller buildings obscured. I found the restaurant readily enough, but slightly late - not a problem, I probably didn't need to book; it looked pretty empty.
