London Still Rocks!

Last Monday , second film in a row, finally got around to  Toy Story 5 . Aw, I do enjoy them.. and this one has the traditional toys competing with AI. V topical. Nearest showing to me is in Everyman Borough Yards . So, out I went on foot, braving the heat.. by the time I got there, I felt cooked: medium-well, I think. Got there ever so slightly late, which means the trailers were just starting - I grabbed a glass of wine with my ticket. Before the film, we had a introductory speech - the guy remarked at the unusual lack of under-8s for this film! and speculated whether it was nostalgia, or we were just all escaping the heat. Tsk, has the man never watched one of these..? Well, we start in the household of Bonnie, who has most of the toys, headed by Cowgirl Jessie  (voiced by Joan Cusack ), for whom the astronaut Buzz Lightyear ( Tim Allen ) holds a torch. Last  night, second evening in a row, I also decided on film - specifically,  Project Hail Mary  at last! It's one of those that a lot of people I know have seen, but I hadn't gotten around to it - stars  Ryan Gosling  in a dystopian future where the sun is dying, and he has to go into space to perform a kind of rescue mission. Sandra Huller is the project leader. Along the way he meets a cute little alien being. I'd heard people rave about it, and he's always watchable, so I was perfectly happy to give that a shot! Closest showing to me was in the  Everyman Borough Yards  - I booked, for convenience. I could walk, and it was a decent day for it. Ah, the joys of a late showing - I stayed late at work, and still made it in good time to eat! Nando's Clink Street , it was.. where I had earned enough Nando loyalty points for free food, excellent! I planned film for the weekend - and Flicks has made an absolute sea-change in my life! No longer do I have to bother with that blasted   old listings site , which is never completely updated until the week whose listings it's describing is nearly over - no, Flicks is much more up to date.. and what's more, I can order the listings - by rating! They do use   Rotten Tomatoes  (RT) - but to be fair, I could do with a change from   IMDB   anyway, they have a problem with overrating some films. And RT does highly rate some of the generally acknowledged good films. What's more, you can store a watchlist - and for each film, you can list the venues in order of distance from a specified location! Default is your current location. For a specified day (chosen from the list of available days), they show the different listings for each cinema - and lo, you can click on the time you want, for the cinema you want, and be taken straight to the booking page. Today, decided on film again, back in London - had to redo the   film list , which keeps being updated! Top of the list was   Chithha , an   Indian   film about a guy raising his niece, who then goes missing; there's some suggestion that someone was suspicious of his relationship with her. Does look good, but unfortunately, the closest it's showing is in the   Cineworld Ilford , which would take an hour to get to from where I live now. Combine that with the late hour it'd finish, and I'd probably fall foul of my mother, whom I always call at night. So instead, I went to  A Little Life  - showing in the  Everyman Borough Yards ,  which is now walking distance from me. This is one of those films of a  play , which I heard is somewhat harrowing - certainly, the screening is 3h 40 m long! But it starts early enough, and as I say, is much closer to me. Plus, it's right beside  Borough Market , so I wasn't short of places to eat..! Decide...
