London Still Rocks!

Yesterday, yes, back with CT for Hot Mess , a kind of cosmic musical at The Other Palace . Eating at the Bag o' Nails beforehand.  The bus came in good time - and then wasn't going all the way! I decided to go as far as it was going, though - which turned out to be a good plan, because I had a better choice of buses there . Had to wait a few minutes, which meant I was slightly late at the pub.. went straight upstairs, as I should have the first time, only to discover the upstairs dining room was shut! so I struggled back down with my rucksack and asked at the bar. They'd reserved a seat for me in the corner. I was served quickly, and the chicken was lovely and tasty.. it was close enough to when I needed to collect my ticket that I skipped having another drink and went straight to the theatre when I'd finished eating. Got a very reasonably priced drink there - the bar was really crowded, but I managed to get a seat on my own and finished the drink before I went in....

Wednesday and Thursday were with Up in the Cheap Seats  (UITCS)  - on Wednesday, we were at Under the Shadow , a horror play, based on the film , about a mother and daughter, trying to survive in a Tehran that is being bombed, who find themselves being haunted, on top of it all. Showing in the Almeida .  I went early - the bus was stifling, but at least I had a seat downstairs. I headed for food in The Bull , as always around here.. the walk wasn't pleasant, short as it was, but the pub looked inviting: It was a little more crowded than usual, but I got a table - now, the chicken schnitzel, which I love when it's done well, was a little burnt the last couple of times here, and I half thought of getting the fish n chips, which is renowned - but I'm so glad I plumped for the chicken, which was terrific on this occasion. I polished off a second glass of wine before heading on another short walk to the theatre. And wow, if you hadn't noticed the aircon, you certainly...

Tonight, back with CT for a play called  Saving Mozart  at  The Other Palace  - was hoping for a musical accompaniment to that. Well, they only play musicals here! Thought about eating beforehand, in the area - but I was a little late arriving, what with one bus delayed and the other coming, and leaving, as I was trying to cross the road to it. (Good thing I dressed for rain, it was lashing at that point.) And wouldn't you know it, of all the eateries around there - every one was rammed! Will remember that, in future - for now, I bought a sandwich in M&S , and ate it before I went in. I was early - got my ticket and headed for the bar. There's a small bar area - you grab seats where you can. I was on a communal table - got a second drink in plastic, going in when they said we could. The lady at the box office had apologised when giving me my ticket, saying that was the best they had - but really, I was quite close! Honestly, it starts quite pretentiously - a h...
