Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration & Play: Before I'm Dead

Image
Yester day, third day in a row of Meetups , I was back with London Museums from A-Z (LoMAZ) for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration , which only opened on the 5th! I did get to bed early enough to have a decent night's sleep.. was ever so slightly late to meet the group in the cafe at the centre. Where there was a massive queue. Which I joined, being hungry. Had plenty of time to peruse the menu. Chose a ham & cheese toastie, and a hot chocolate, and was given a number, which I took with me to the table. The hot chocolate came in due course - and was surprisingly good! No offence intended, I'm picky about hot chocolates. I tell you though, I was in serious doubt that my toastie would arrive in time for me to eat it before we had to go in. It did - just.. I must have been waiting at least 20 minutes for it. Dripping with cheese, it was ever so slightly messy, but oh so good.. When we headed off, we were advised to go to the downstairs gallery first, which was less c...

Immersive Theatre: Jorvik

Image
These  two days, I was thinking film, but they were not selling out (yet), so I didn't book. Tonight, I was thinking of  Breathless , at the  BFI  - part of their  Ensemble  season to celebrate the filmmakers referenced in  Richard Linklater 's new  documentary  about the  French Nouvelle Vague (New Wave) . Breathless is directed by  Jean-Luc Godard . However, last night I was having a look at what else was on - and lo, TAC came up with a stunning option - so instead of the film, I booked for  Jorvik , an immersive  Viking  experience, based around the capture of  York  by the Vikings, who renamed it Jorvik. Happening in  The Glitch . Regular tickets from  Ticket Tailor . Booked for  The Archduke  beforehand. Ah, TFL - I was surprised, recently, to see "due" buses actually arrive straight away.. this evening, they were back to normal. The bus was "due", and there I was, waiting and wait...

Social & Walk: Rebel Women of the South Bank

Yesterday wa s another ex-colleagues meeting - or actually just another meeting with James! We haven't seen Ivan since June, and Martin since last Christmas.. and of course, we were in  The Phoenix  again. No problem with buses - apart from Google Maps oddly telling me to get off early. I was to discover there was a reason - Victoria Street was being dug up! So I had a bit longer walk than anticipated - and I was just starting that when he messaged to say he was already there. So, he beat me for once! And then, when I went in, I couldn't see him.. ended up standing right beside him while I got my phone out to message and ask him where he was, whereupon he reached out and poked me.. I am never going to recognise him in that hat.. Well, he had fish n chips again and I had steak again - how predictable are we?! And I swear the barman remembered us, and gave a nod of recognition when I told him what wine I wanted. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.. and you know, w...
