Dinner: Greenwich Yacht Club
Tonight, back with Over 40 Living the Life for another dinner at Greenwich Yacht Club.. and after last Tuesday, I knew what not to order!
I'm getting better at finding my way - once I was within sight, I knew exactly where I was going, for once. I was among the first to arrive - and I needn't have worried, the curry was off the menu tonight! Steak.. chicken.. burger.. fish.. I decided on steak. Happily, someone in the group wanted to share a bottle of wine, which is always nice.. mind you, calculating, we saved 50p by buying the bottle. Oh, and the steak is £10. Really cannot beat the value here..
I did ask for medium, but I think it all comes the same way, by the look of it. Mine was what you might call well done. Anyway, it wasn't - hand on heart - the best I've had. But it was nice, tasty - lovely gravy - and a huge portion. Comes with chips. After, I wanted the chocolate and orange sponge again, but they were out of it - a guy at the bar recommended the (vegan) caramel cheesecake, so I had that. Which was perfectly nice - honestly though, I could have done without the fruit coulis all over it - I dunno why they bother! But I was well fed. As usual, to be fair.
Lovely views, as ever.. Great company too.. I always enjoy these trips! Roll on the next..
Tomorrow, with London Literary Walks.. he's BACK!! Great stuff - and he's starting, appropriately for me, with the James Joyce Walk. I was actually supposed to go last Wednesday, but it transpired that his popularity is proving a hindrance - he had too many people for that night, and asked his regulars to switch to another date - he was actually doing the walk twice more: last Thursday, and tomorrow. So I'm going then. Hope the weather has improved.
And on Thursday - back with Up in the Cheap Seats, for a new take on A Midsummer Night's Dream (perhaps a bit early) at Wilton's. Wow, Meetup seems to have woken up at last.. Anyway, my sometime companion from that group is also going, and we've just booked the local Cote for dinner beforehand.
