Chamber Music Concert

Tonight, I was with London Baroque Music Lovers for a chamber music concert at Wigmore Hall. Arrangements were to meet beforehand at the Cock and Lion (which advertises itself as the only pub on Wigmore Street) - checking the menu, I saw they do chicken schnitzel, so that was a no-brainer; I hadn't had it in ages! Unfortunately, at that time of the evening, bus would have taken too long - so I was on the Tube.

Alight at Bond Street Station, cross Oxford Street and head up Marylebone Lane - it's right at the top. The upstairs was closed, and the downstairs isn't that big, so it didn't take me long to realise that the organiser wasn't there - happily, someone else from the group was, saw me looking, and figured I was with the group. So I ordered my schnitzel, and we grabbed a table, some others arriving in due course.

Ah, that schnitzel was lovely - and the chips came perfectly presalted. I should make a note of this place for food! Anyway, we chatted away until it was time to head to the concert hall - I was right by the stage again.

For some reason, someone had positioned a table right by my seat - handy for leaving stuff on, but an odd furniture choice that I doubt was deliberate. Never mind. As to the concert.. absolutely beautiful, and played straight through, without even a pause for applause between pieces. The first applause of the night was right at the end, before the encore, which was followed by a second round. The whole experience was quite intense - very absorbing. And quite a unique experience, at least for me.

Afterwards, some of us headed for a nightcap to the Lamb and Flag.. rounding off the night nicely. I don't spend most of my time at Baroque concerts, nor do I have an in-depth knowledge of the genre - but I do love the music, and I do enjoy meeting with this group. And finally, got buses home.

Tomorrow's schedule has been greatly delayed by the fact that I couldn't decide whether I could be bothered with anything on Meetup. I finally decided I couldn't be bothered, and booked with CT instead, for a play called Sunsets, at the Seven Dials playhouse - mainly, to be honest, because it was the closest on offer cheaply. It does sound interesting, though - a woman, obsessed with rom-coms, decides to create one from her own life..

On Wednesday, I booked with Barrie again, for his Mile End walk - with TAC, to save a few quid. I'll have to bring enough cash though - he does require a top-up, if booked that way. Anyway, I'll have to rush back - have an interview in the evening! for a job I think I want..

On Thursday, back with Up in the Cheap Seats, for The Little Big Things, at Soho Place. Damnit, of course, if they didn't then start advertising on cheap ticket sites..

Then I'm back to Ireland for the weekend. Watch this space for cinema listings - not all the new releases are rated yet..
